Sixteen vehicles, representing 4 different power-to-weight ratios, were tested over California Motor Vehicle Pollution Control Board exhaust device evaluation cycle on road and chassis dynamometer at American Motor Corp; data comparing engine intake air consumption and sensible heat output for both methods indicate that cycle, as conducted on road, requires more intake air and rejects more exhaust heat than does dynamometer operation.
