Electric car will use electrical braking to lighten work of mechanical brakes; computer study made by General Motors Corp to determine what percentage of energy supplied to axle is available for recovery through regeneration; several weight classes of cars were studied using city, suburban, and highway driving schedules; ratio percentages obtained are ratio of energy available for recovery to total energy supplied to axle, and above ratio modified by assumed efficiencies in propulsion and regeneration systems.
