Transport system to moon or planets will preferably use earth launch vehicle (ELV) and interorbital space vehicle (ISV); latter can be assembled in earth orbit or launched into orbit for immediate space flight; economic aspects of orbital assembly of deep space vehicles vs delivery of complete, operational vehicle from ground are investigated; operating cost of establishing orbital installation and costs of orbital operations, particularly labor; orbital assembly is found economically inferior to delivery in operational condition; development of large payload (106-lb) launch vehicle is suggested.
