Accelerated traffic tests were conducted on prepared subgrade, with rolling wheel load simulating actual aircraft operations; tests were conducted with 25,000-lb singlewheel load, with tire inflation pressure of 250 psi, on mat-surfaced subgrade with rated CBR's of 3.4 and 3.5 for items 1 and 2, respectively; modified MX18-B mat in item one sustained 350 coverages of traffic, which was equivalent to 670 coverages on 4-CBR subgrade and exceeded project requirements (200 coverages on 4-CBR subgrade) by 235%; modified MX18-B mat in item two sustained 200 coverages of traffic, which was equivalent to 325 coverages on 4-CBR subgrade and exceeded project requirements by 62.5%.
