Investigation consisted of traffic tests to obtain information for use in comparing performance of mats with project requirements; traffic tests were conducted on prepared subgrade, with rolling wheel load simulating actual aircraft operations; these tests were conducted with 25,000-lb single-wheel load with tire inflation pressure of 250 psi on mat-surfaced subgrade with rated California Bearing Ratio of 3.7 and 4.0 for MX18-B and MX18-C, respectively; MX18-B was considered marginal as it just met project requirement of 200 coverages on r-CBR subgrade; MX18-C exceeded traffic criteria by 35% and is considered desirable.
