Penetrator aircraft penetrating enemy airspace at Mach 1 to 1.5 while flying at 150 to 500 ft and even lower, passing unnoticed by ground-based search radars and air-to-air intercept radars, and variables that determine optimum flight regime; penetrator survivability as function of flight altitude is considered and basic modes of low-level supersonic flight, namely, terrain clearance, terrain following and terrain avoidance are discussed; major penetrator avionics, various subsystems and displays provided; high-storage-capacity computer operating on program termed command-shaping; manual and automatic systems, and semiautomatic approach; other approaches are given.
