Radar attitude sensing system for use in earth orbital and lunar orbital vehicles is described; this multi-purpose flight control instrument employs radar data to obtain vehicle roll, pitch, yaw, altitude and velocity; it uses light weight radar with electronically steered antenna to provide all solid state sensor with no moving parts; system employs monopulse antenna configuration; operation is described at block diagram level; theoretical performance is determined and is compared with results from aircraft flight test program; these results are extrapolated to orbital altitudes and velocities; test results show good comparison with predicted performance.
