Based on analysis of temporal and spatial distribution of pedestrian during evacuation, the opportunity model was used to estimate destination choices of pedestrians and an OD matrix was obtained. Then, evacuation process was simulated in VISSIM environment, and time needed to evacuate all residents in the residential district was calculated. Pedestrian's distribution was changed after adjusting layout of residential buildings, and corresponding simulation results were observed and comparative analysis was done. The results indicate that efficiency of evacuation under decentralized layout of buildings is higher than the one under centralized layout.
