The article proposes a method of calculating the life of anchor bearings of traction motors that allows taking into account the size of the radial gap in the bearing, the geometry of the contact surfaces and the presence of lubricant. The radial load distribution between the rolling bodies in the bearing is proposed to be calculated through the force equilibrium condition for the inner ring, expressed in integral form. To take into account the curvature of contact surfaces, the resource is calculated through fatigue destruction of the inner and outer rings. The presence of lubricant in the bearing is taken into account by the coefficient characterizing the effect of the thickness of the lubricant layer on the durability of the bearing by introducing it into the design formula. Using the proposed technique, the service life of anchor bearings of traction motors of an electric locomotive operated on the Sarga-Sabik section was calculated and effective values of radial clearances were determined.
