This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book has attempted to portray the design and development of aircraft systems as practised in the aerospace industry. The industry is currently dominated by the need to deliver hard products, many of them complex interactions of airframe, components, human operators, and systems, both hardware and software. These products are provided to customers as a part of their armed forces or airline infrastructure, which in turn may be part of a wider national or international entity. The modern view of systems engineering seeks to engender a balance of skill, experience, and judgement that removes personal bias in order to achieve a system that meets the needs of the customer and is considered fit for its intended purpose. The discipline of systems engineering is about the creation and realisation of elegant systems solutions in a complex world.
