Managing traffic issues in the cosmopolitan cities is a very challenging task for policemen. Moving through traffic is very important in urban and highly populated areas and in big cities. The traditional methods that we follow today are unable to handle such a day by day increase of road traffic in cities, and to handle these situations efficiently the concept of smart cities, has risen. We need to use the technology we have today. The main goal of this chapter is to create a traffic system that depends on density which handles the situation better than existing methods. As a solution, we have to use an Internet of Things (IoT) technology in the traffic control system based on the density constraint algorithm. This algorithm will solve problems created by traditional methods which are not as effective. As per previous discussion, we control our traffic signal system by calculating according to the speed limit of the respective road and distance between two consecutive signals. The system takes traffic density as input from cameras and sensors. Depending on this input, output signals are monitored. The algorithm is used to calculate the traffic density by the input from sensors. An additional feature is that, RFIDs are used to identify the emergency vehicles like ambulance, fire brigade, etc. by making mandatory RFID tags in emergency service vehicles. In serious events like fire in a vehicle or fire accident on a road there are some sensors that can find out these cases. We also have an application which is interlinked to a city's traffic database and forwards the issue to department about vehicle fire and tags the whereabouts of the incident. The user will also receive a notification about these situations. The municipalities or the equivalents of any city can always look at the density of traffic at any signal also things like the annual traffic flow which will help them in plans like road expansion etc. We create an application where the user can access the speed range and real‐time traffic information. We control our traffic signals using Raspberry Pi where the data is being received from Google maps application programming interface (API), where the information will be stored on server data base (DB). Our application will display the data from server regarding the user's location.
