Chapter 7 gives a general method for design and application of the battery management system (BMS). First, the functions and two architectures of BMS are introduced. Then the design of a battery parameters measurement module, including cell voltage, current, and temperature measurement, and isolation detection, is presented and commonly used chips are introduced. Several battery equalization management circuits are also discussed. Data communication, logic control of BMS and battery safety control are provided. The stability testing method of the BMS is finally presented.
