Corrosion monitoring of buried gas pipeline by magnetic electrochemical impedance spectroscopy is reported. Field tests conducted on in-service gas trasmission pipelines in the Washington and Baltimore metropolitan area are presented for cathodic protection current mapping, AC impedance of a pipeline segment containing a holiday, and stray current mapping. This method is especially interesting in its ability to study large systems in which the physical size makes current distribution and localized current interactions likely.
