The aim of this research project is, to produce parts with different materials according to the different load zones by powder forging. Using a gear as an example, which is characterized by Hertzian stress in the tooth flank and bending stress in the tooth root it will be proved that it is possible to accomodate the strength of the material to the stress by using so-called multiphase structures. With the help of powder forged test samples, the structure and diffusion behaviour of the tested materials is determined.
