The introduction of the Disability Discrimination Act in 1995 has introduced new laws and standards relating to the accessibility of public transport vehicles. Specifically, section 32 empowers the Government to apply taxi accessibility regulations to licensed taxis regarding the carrying of disabled people safely and comfortably. To this and, the Automotive Group has designed and developed a vehicle that not only complies and surpasses the act, but embraces the ergonomic ideals for disabled transport. The Volkswagen Sharan takes into account stability, safety, interior design, vision, ingress/egress and adaptability to the disabled passengers' needs.
