Measurement of pressure distributions, forces and moments were obtained for the hypersonic research configuration ELAC 1 for subsonic, transonic, and supersonic freestream velocities. Of particular interest of the investigations to be reported here was the transonic flight regime. The highest subsonic and the lowest supersonic freestream Mach numbers were 0.84 and 1.34, respectively. Three 30 cm models , equipped in different manner, were prepared for the various experiments to be conducted. A special balance was constructed, adapted to the model for measurements of the lift, drag, and pitching moments. The experiments were carried out for several subsonic and supersonic freestream Mach numbers in the trisonic wind tunnel of the Aerodynamisches Institut of the RWTH Aachen. The angles of attack at which the measurements were performed, were taken from the reference flight trajectory at Ma = 2. The data collected in the experiments are discussed for characteristic flight conditions.
