Vehicle signalling lamps submit to specific photometrical requirements, specified in geometrical visibility angle by precise luminous intensities. Proper luminous intensity guarantees that a vehicle could be seen from sufficient distance. Luminous intensity, which is a function of luminance and signal area, should not be the only one demand to signalling lamp. Proper luminous intensity could be achieved by low luminance and huge area or high luminance and small area. Vehicle signalling lamps does not have clear requirements to their luminance and luminance distribution. The paper presents results of works on graphical simulation of signalling lamp look when it is on. Visualization system of signalling lamp signal is based on inverted beam method. It makes it possible to check luminance distribution and values of luminance and, in addition, gives the picture of signalling lamp when it is on, for given photometrical direction. The paper describes theoretical basis of visualization system, presents visual examples of proper and improper luminance distributions. The worked out system is a calculation tool, which is very helpful in construction and design works.
