Globalisation of the automotive industry demands condenser materials technology which can satisfy adequate corrosion resistance to worldwide operating environments. Calsonic has satisfied this requirement by sacrificial zinc layer protection supported by the Calsonic Dew Test. Results are presented which confirm that condenser corrosion is limited to the depth of the sacrificial zinc layer, without compromising thermal performance irrespective of differences in worldwide operating environments. In contrast, pitting corrosion of tube and fin, resulting in reduced thermal performance and tube perforation is illustrated for condensers employing alternative materials technologies.
