Its railway diesel engine type 6 EF 18.5/19 was studied by Ganz-MAVAG and supplied with an injection device of the Technical University of Brno as follows: - produced a diesel engine of almost-constant power output in a wide range of speed to arrive at a high torque elasticity; - developed a simple hydromechanical transmission of high efficiency, matching above mentioned diesel engine, created a compact structure, a highly efficient traction unit for rail- and heavy road-vehicles, in a power range up to 750 HP. The authors report about the tests, research, experiences and results of the development, and then present the structural solution and the advantages of the new traction unit.
