This paper deals with applications of electrorheological fluid (ERF) in shock absorbers. This kind of shock absorber (ERF shock absorber) whose damping force can be controlled continuously and quickly with signals will be used in many kinds of mechanical equipment for vibration control. The typical structures of the absorbers are discussed. A new kind of shock absorber and its control system are developed in this paper. The testing results of the ERF shock absorbers are offered.
