A new generation of free programmable machines is shown. This includes side machines for ESTABELLS and air atomizers and roof machines for ESTABELLS and air atomizers. The roof machines cover stationary and line tracking versiona. Partially conflicting development objectives have been met like minimal paint and solvent losses during colour change, low influence to cabin airflow, high availability and serviceability and precise and dynamic movement. The most critical situation is present at the line tracking roof machines, e.g. with very long hoses put through the machine. For this kind of machines we give a comparison of the two design principles with rotational and linear tracking axes. This comparison is based on extensive experience out of prototype testing with both kinds of line tracking roof machine.
