The brazing technology of copper tubes in the installation for gas distribution is against the standards (DVGW/GW2-83) realized by metal filler materials (brazes) and defined by DIN 8511 (most of them are silver based) and the fluxing agents (fluxes) against DIN 8513. The brazing-joint fittings have to be prepared as well as the tubes. The surface preparation for brazing can be performed by cleaning with wire brushes, wire wool, and abrasive papers. The fluxes have to be placed on the cleaned surfaces immediate after cleaning. The torch brazing process uses acetylene or propane or an other gas fuel to warm up the prepared joints. The testing procedures for the brazed joints are given against US standards (ASME, Section IX, Part QB). (Jarc)
