The gearboxes of rail vehicles have following components: the electric energy supply, the energy transformation and control component, the driving motor, the transmission gearbox, and the coupling mechanism. The optimization parameters and criterions are analysed (speed, dynamic loads, reliability, etc.) the possible design alternatives are discussed. The planetary gearbox is mathematically modelled considering the kinematic structure on two ways of supporting of the planetary gearbox: the supporting on the driving support and the supporting on the driving axle. The evaluation of the dynamic forces and the protection of the kinematic chain against the dynamic moments are given. The dynamic analysis has shown, that supporting on the driving support has better kinematic characteristics. (Jarc)
