Results from long term data acquisition in wheel loaders are presented. The resulting rain flow spectra, from various operating sites and drivers, are analysed in various ways. Efforts to identify the underlying statistical distribution for some measurement points are made. A powerful method to handle this type of data is to express the severeness of the spectrum as a load time history value D (Duty) which is comparable to the damage in the Palmgren-Miner sum. The fatigue strength is expressed as C ( Capacity), the constant in the SN-equation, based on fatigue test results. This approach simplifies the establishment of design data as well as facilitating a statistical treatment. The results of D and C from measurements and fatigue tests are both fitted to 3 parameter Weibull and log normal distributions and Di s also fitted to Gumbel distributions. The load distributions are combined with strength distributions and the resulting fatigue life and reliability is computed for some typical parts of the actual structure.
