The development towards still stricter emission legislation and higher competition within the vehicle market, underlines the demand for a reliable, inexpensive short test, applicable to both cars, trucks and buses. As the main part of the emissions are created during transience, a transient test should be preferable. As the INertia COLLection system does not need any chassis-dynamometer, but could be applied even without any investments in buildings or sites, it is not only inexpensive but also flexible. The present status of the system as to emission tests, catalytic converter efficiency test, as well as emissions from trucks and buses, are described.
