In the simulation models, described in literature, concerning the theoretical rides simulation, the efficiency of the tooth gear between the motor and the wheel set is taken into account as a constant magnitude and not as a changeable one. A method of determining the dependence of the gear efficiency on the loading moment is described in this paper. In the second part of the paper, the simulation results for an electric multiple unit, with regard to variations in gear efficiency, are compared with the simulation results, on considering a constant, nominal gear efficiency. The compared results suggest the need of simulating the theoretical rides with regard to the tooth gear efficiency as changeable with the load.
