British Aerospace Australia Pty Ltd was awarded a contract by the Australian Space Office to design, manufacture and test the Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) for the Along Track Scanning Radiometer (ATSR-2) to be flown on the European Earth Resource Satellite, ERS-2. Despite an extremely demanding schedule, the ATSR-2 EGSE has been delivered and successfully deployed in the UK on schedule and within budget This paper addresses the software design of the ATSR-2 EGSE. Items discussed include the software requirements, the selected computer hardware, the high-level software design, and a low-level description of each software module.
