An in-vehicle Audio Visual Information Communication system reproducing a route map on a 10 cm colour LCD screen is described and illustrated. Its other elements are a CD-ROM reader, a Global Positioning System satellite transmission decoder, and an integrated antenna. The principles of triangulation for a mobile receiver of signals from three satellites are explained. Difficulties in application to cars in comparison with ships are elucidated. A car radio interface allows instructions to be given for proper control of the vehicle.
