An approach is developed for an accurate estimation of the induced voltage on the adjoining cables and circuits for a rail transportation system using high-power thyristors (e.g. for applications in electric locomotives). The approach is based on environmental modeling and takes into account the calculated and measured induced voltage due to electric traction. The method used results in a set of six simultaneous equations, solved by Gaussian elimination. A mathematical model for a particular section over which the measurements have been made is thus obtained.
