The problem of moving point target recognition based on noisy image sequence is discussed. A novel method for moving point target recognition is proposed. This method consists of a series of three major processes: preprocessing of the noisy image sequence; extracting the velocity of the moving point target; and neural classification. A simulation experiment was carried out for three kinds of moving point targets for which the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is specified. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method is feasible. The application of the neural network to classification greatly improves the classification results.
