The author describes the outline of techniques for space LIDAR sensing of the global atmospheric environment, which is under development for practical applications in the analysis of atmospheric water circulation, analysis of global thermal energy and chemical analysis of aerosol/corpuscular pollutant generation, transportation and deposits. High-precision measurement of these atmospheric parameter distributions at high altitudes is realized by using the space LIDAR in the national projects such as LITE/LAWS/LASA (by NASA), ALEXIS (Germany), and ATLID (European Space Agency).
