Laser Doppler velocimeters for recording the velocity of ocean currents have been developed. It is not possible to maintain the maritime velocimeter in a fixed position even if a fixed platform base is used. Maritime measurements always involve periodic motion of the instrument due to rocking and other displacements characteristic of oscillations of the laser Doppler velocimeter support structure. The correlation between the frequency of the LDV signal and the measured ocean current velocity where periodic vibrations to the instrument exist is therefore of practical interest. The present paper considers a differential LDV configuration in which two beams intersecting at an angle 2 theta are used for probing. The measured velocity is obtained by averaging over the measurement volume: the intersection range of the beams.
