A design is presented for a solid-state superconducting power switch based on the transition from the superconducting to the normal state under magnetic fields higher than the critical field. It is shown that the switch is a useful circuit element and that, when it is used with other auxiliary devices, it can reproduce the performance of many normal devices very familiar in semiconductor electronics. Hybrid electronic devices using this magnetically actuated switch are described.
