Discusses the US Department of Defence response to the drug trafficking threat. The military's responsibility is to reduce the flow of illicit narcotics into the USA and to support or conduct many of the source country actions in executing this strategy. The military C3I arrangements must be developed in the current environment. Efforts must continue to develop long-term applications in areas of long-haul communications, automatic data processing, software and hardware integration, sensors and collection platforms.
