The 12th and 13th Five-Year-Plans provide for a further acceleration in the development of the gas industry. Moreover, reconstruction of gas lines built in the 1960s will begin in the 13th Five-Year Plan, whereupon the percentage of rebuilt gas lines in comparison with new construction will systematically increase. Several ways to reduce energy expenditure in gas transport are widely recognized-the use of secondary heat resources of gas turbine installations; reduction of the roughness of the inside wall of gas pipelines; increasing the efficiency of motors and radial-flow compressors; reduction in the degree of compression of compressors with a simultaneous reduction in the interval between CS. These measures could reduce energy expenditure in gas transport by roughly 20-25%.
