The use of CO2 laser radars as practical guidance sensors for homing missiles is rapidly approaching a reality. Several programs have potential to establish Raytheon in CO2 laser radar production. In the tactical Ladar Seeker (TLS) program, The Division is developing a system for directing the fire of the D-2 electromagnetic gun or a conventional 120 mm cannon using a sensor suite of CO2 and millimeter wave radars plus thermal imaging.
