The latest progress in microcomputers has provided control functions that were impossible because of cost, size and reliability. The control of an automobile is classified into three groups such as the body electric installation system, information/display data transmission system and real time control system. The transmission signals are grouped into digital on/off signals, PWM signals and analog signals. A greater portion of a device consists of switches, sensors and actuators. Most control signals can be transmitted as multiplexed digital signals. It will become important to develop transmission technologies that are suitable for control systems in accordance with the types of transmission data and processing.
