A technical and economic comparison is made of different variations of gas-turbine drives for compressor stations on trunk gas pipelines. The comparison essentially reduces to evaluation of two contrarily acting factors that are in consequence of increased efficiency of gas-turbine drives: a reduction in operating costs for transportation of gas owing to a decrease in fuel-energy expenditures and an increase in capital investment in compressor stations. The results of the analysis are shown in generalized criterial form.
