The electrical drives are suitable for use in the drive trains of electric and hybrid vehicles. The electrical machines, which belong to the family of permanent magnet synchronous machines, are characterised by type in diameter and in their modular system by their internal mechanical design. There are two ranges of associated inverters, the inverter selected depending on the value of the DC link voltage. The individual inverters in each range are available with a range of current levels. The special mechanical design of the inverter permits a liquid cooling system which effectively prevents the coolant entering the inside of inverter. An equipotential bonding facility is also provided for the use of the on-board electric components. Fichtel & Sachs, a company involved in vehicle technology within the Mannesmann group, is the manufacturer.
