Since 1988 Hughes has focused its readout development efforts on a low cost, high performance architecture which is compatible with a wide variety of detector materials including P-on NPV HgCdTe and PV InSb detectors. This effort has resulted in the DI (Direct Injection) series of readout products. The first DI readout integrated circuit (ROIC) was demonstrated in 1989 with a 128 x 128 format and a 40 micron unit cell. In 1990 an enhanced direct injection design resulted in the fabrication and demonstration of three new ROICs (see Table 1). Late in 1991 the self timed series was developed and will be demonstrated in mid 1992. All of these silicon ROIC developments will be discussed in this paper.
