The use of ASICs has generalized on space project applications. Therefore, parts must satisfy well known specificities related to radiation resistance and high quality and reliability levels. Conventional quality assessment methods based on standard components approach are no more applicable due to technical and economic considerations induced by increase in components complexities, varieties, and cost; but they are sometimes yet used to answer to specific projects needs. In order to answer adequately to ASIC (but is also extendable to standard components) Quality Assurance requirements, the authors decided to implement new approaches. Since 1986, the authors have provided big efforts on these activities especially on technology evaluation and test characterization. The obtained results are very helpful for the projects, for CNES PPL (Preferred Parts List) extension and most of them are available to serve for European projects.
