BOSCH-FMA is a vehicle monitoring and dispatching system. It is designed to monitor on a map-workstation at the dispatch-center the location and the status of fleet-vehicles. The FMA is composed of three subsystems: In-vehicle navigation device - Communications - Dispatch. 1) The in-vehicle device, called BOSCH-Travelpilot, basing on dead-reckoning technics with map-matching, provides location capability and status entry, can display map and text messages from dispatch and has the ability of driver guidance using a heading up map display. The map screen shows the driver his current location, his destination and the road network between the two. 2) The communications subsystem brings the fleet into digital contact with the dispatcher, using voice channel for data transmission with powerful error-detection and -correction algorithms. 3) The dispatch workstation enables one or more dispatchers to monitor the location and status of fleet vehicles, locate incidents, and determine the closest available unit for dispatch. FMA can help to manage a fleet for more efficient and reponsive dispatch.
