The series connection of short linear induction motors (LIMs) are suggested for propulsion of maglev vehicle with the cruising speed about 300 km/h for intercity transit systems. There are six types in the series connection of adjacent stators, the adequate distance between stators exists to get better performance in each type, then the flux between the adjacent stators distributes continuously with the same pole pitch. As the adequate distance exists at every one sixth of the pole pitch, we can select the preferable distance, according to demands for the mechanical suspension. The series connection of short stator LIMs with the above-mentioned distance have the good performance approaching that of the long stator LIM, and have the much better performance than the separate short stator LIMS. In the high-speed LIM, the performance of the series connection of short stator LIMs with the adequate distance between stators is much better than that of the separate short stator LIMs in the relatively small number of poles of one LIM. The adequate distance can be set up at every one sixth of the pole pitch only by changing the connection of the primary winding between stators. So, we can select the preferable distance, according to demand the mechanical suspension.
