The aim of this paper is twofold: first, it is to present a new criterion to assess the performances of a fire-control radar, criterion which is of a great operational significance, and second, to give an easy way to put it on a computer. Indeed, we calculate the range at which the probability of getting a firm track (i.e. that won't be deleted later) is equal to 0.9, on a certain target in a precise situation. This range is not a general measure and the scenario must be well precised, but this measure yields an enormous information about the tenacity of the radar in different cases (trajectory of the target, electromagnetic environment, ...) and allows us to optimze different parameters in the radar
