The origin for the mobile measurement and memory unit is the design and improvement of electronically controlled combustion engine control systems. Such kind of engines has a lower consumption of fuel and lower toxic exhaust gas. So they help to solve some present problems of the mankind. During improvement of electronic control devices in a moving vehicle it is necessary to have some measurement values to check the operation of it. By this way it is possible to locate breakdowns and to increase the reliability of the whole system. The analysis of these values during the test is impossible, because the driver has to attend to traffic. So it has been decided to use a memory system and to analyse the values after the test. Analogue memories are not able to operate the digital data from the control unit. So are used digital memory units. The use of solid state memories (RAM) has some disadvantages, and disc memories cannot operate in a moving car because of the mechanical accelerations. So it has been decided to use magnetic tape cassette recorders. They have the best resistance against mechanical loadings and the measurement time is practically unlimited. Digital recorders are usual by every computer and so the analysis is simple by using them. Analogue values must be a/d-converted before they may be recorded.
