The respect of severe environment, minimum size, increasing functionality, quality, reliability and security imperatives required by the automotive electronic control unit leads to the present obliged use of circuit and system optimal synthesis. Using less components is the essential parameter to provide safe answers in front of the customers demand. Thanks to the joint progress in CAE/CAD and research in new mixed technologies adapted to signal processing and power control, the silicon integration of automotive systems is now available through application oriented circuits. The arrival of custom micro-computers and 'intelligent' and self protected power circuits are the two revolutions that will change drastically our design methodologies used until now.
