New high performance aircraft will use multiple output air data sensors and digital pressure measuring transducers and computation. Pitot pressure, aerodynamically compensated static pressure, and pressures used for determining angle of attack are all outputs from the air data sensor. The sensor may be connected directly to the transducer which provides multiple digital outputs for the aircraft using systems. A system analysis shows significant improvement in angle of attack accuracy when digital transducers and circuitry replace analog systems. Predicted system errors are shown to agree with experimentally determined errors obtained from a wind tunnel calibration of the new digital system. Pitot pressure, static pressure, and angle of attack sensing accuracies and reproducibility were determined from wind tunnel tests on production sensors for two multiple output sensor designs.
