The Army Pulse Power Center is the newest facility in this country dedicated to repetitive pulse power component R and D for military systems. This facility, located at Fort Monmouth New Jersey, will open this fall. It will replace the existing facilities at the Evans Area of the fort which are 45 years old. It wil serve both the Army as well as other DoD agencies and their contractors where there is a need for high average powe testing in a shielded environment. The new Center consists of a main building containing a shielded room servicing two shielded high bays, each with 3600 square foot of floor space, a 40 foot ceiling and a 20 ton traveling crane. Attached to the high bays are the support laboratories for the pulse powe component and the high power microwave activities, assembly areas, shops and administrative offices. This high bays are supported by 30 megawatts of installed commercial powe feeding a variety of multi-megawatt power supplies. The design of the facility and its capabilities will be described. The data collection using optical fiber technology and data reduction, analysis of the information along with the video recording of the experimental results are representative of the latest available technology.
