Overhead presentation: To achieve sufficient confidence on reliability and customer satisfaction, a vehicle field test is performed with selected customers after the completion of the driveline calibration and functional test program. To ensure sufficient test coverage the test fleet will contain vehicles with various driveline configurations and a mix of customer transport applications. The selected customers are spread over different countries or sometimes even different continents. All vehicles participating in this test fleet are equipped with remote data-logging facilities to monitor diagnostic trouble codes and gather data for root-cause finding, performance and application analysis which can be used for simulation purposes. To determine the magnitude of such a field test fleet, a statistical tool has been developed. The inputs for this tool are the number of vehicles, test duration, maturity level of the parts and the relevance of the field test for each particular failure mode. The output is the calculated Probability of Detection (PoD) for various failure modes types identified during the project risk assessment.
