The strand-laying technology has a high technical potential for bridge construction and can reduce costs sustainably. Technically and technologically strand-laid CFRP bridge systems (carbon fibre reinforced plastics) are realizable and operational. However, much development and testing work and especially time are needed for obtaining the necessary building permissions. Repeated material and component tests as well as tests of the joints have to be provided for each new bridge construction. This ranges from simple pressure and tensile tests to customized and complex component tests. It should be noted that the test results are only valid for one semi-finished system and any subsequent change of material generates considerable testing effort for obtaining the approvals.
